Ramallah: Israeli occupation forces shot and killed a Palestinian under the pretext that he attempted to carry out a stabbing at the Beit Hanoun Junction near Hebron on Thursday, amid escalating violence in Israel and the Occupied Territories.

The occupation forces claimed that the martyr, Moayad Awni Jabarin, 20, from the town of Saeer, near Hebron, was shot dead after he attempted to stab an Israeli soldier.

Hebron sources, who requested anonymity till the remains of the martyr were handed to his family for burial, categorically rejected the Israeli version of the story, stressing that the unarmed man did not pose any risk for the regime soldiers who “executed Moayad and left him bleeding to death without providing him with the necessary medical help to save his life”.

The sources said that several eye witnesses to the execution told the Palestinian authorities that Moayad did not have a knife and never attempted to stab any Israeli soldier.

“The martyr did not even come close any of the soldiers at the scene,” said the sources. “The Israeli soldiers provoked the martyr and insulted him repeatedly, but he did not react to that and remained calm. Then, an Israeli soldier purposely executed him in cold blood.”

The Israeli occupation forces prevented the Palestinian Red Crescent from reaching the bleeding man to save his life. The martyr lay bleeding for almost half an hour till the soldiers confirmed he was already dead. “The Red Crescent paramedics were prevented by the Israeli forces from reaching the bleeding man to provide him with the necessary medical help and save his life. It was indeed possible to save his life,” said Orab Fuqahaa, a Spokeswoman for the Palestinian Red Crescent. “The Israeli forces seized the martyr’s dead body.”

The Hebron sources said that the martyr’s father was summoned by the Israeli occupation forces to the scene to identify his son’s remains. The shocked father asked the soldiers for his son’s dead body but they instructed the father to leave the scene.

Palestinian youth who were present when the man was executed and many others who joined later hurled stones at the regime soldiers, who sealed the entire area. Fierce clashes were reported at the hot scene.
