Ramallah: Israeli media have been increasingly inciting violence against Palestinians by publishing advertisements and commissioning articles encouraging Israeli forces to kill Palestinians without any hesitation.
A racist campaign dubbed ‘0404 Broadcast’ encourages Israeli soldiers to kill Palestinians without question. One poster released as part of the campaign exhorts: “If you feel the slightest danger to your life from stones or a Molotov cocktail, do not think twice; do not hesitate; just kill.”
The poster adds: “Raise your weapon and send a deadly bullet to the potential murderer’s head.”
The campaign reasons that spending some time in jail is far better than the remotest chance of ending up dead.
Palestinians have roundly condemned the campaign as racist and a clear indication that Israeli forces are giving their troops free rein to kill Palestinians without having to worry about the consequences.
Ahmad Mustafa, a political activist in occupied East Jerusalem, said there have always been such racist media campaigns, but there has been a marked surge in such advertisements of late. “Such campaigns encourage soldiers to kill Palestinians without provocation,” he said.
