SHABWA: Rescue caravans from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) have arrived in Merkhah Al Ulya district in Shabwa governorate on Friday, as part of the UAE’s humanitarian, rescue, and development aid programmes in the liberated Yemeni governorates.

The ERC on Friday dispatched seven rescue caravans loaded with 3,500 baskets of basic supplies for the residents of Merkhah Al Ulya district, which is experiencing tragic conditions and deteriorating services.

Mohammad Saif Al Muhairi, head of the ERC Office in Shabwa, said that the ERC’s plan consists of providing various types of support, including humanitarian and development aid, most notably in the education and health sectors, as well as water and electricity projects and other services, to improve the lives of local residents.

The people of Merkhah Al Ulya District thanked the UAE’s leadership and the ERC for supporting them throughout the war, which followed the coup by Al Houthi militia.
