Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, on Sunday held talks with Yemeni President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi on bilateral relations and ways to develop them at the Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The Yemeni President arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier on Sunday on a two-day state visit to the country and was received by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

In the presence of Shaikh Mohammad, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in all fields.

Shaikh Khalifa welcomed the Yemeni leader and reiterated his country’s keenness to boost UAE-Yemen relations, especially at political and economic levels, as well as to provide all forms of support to the Yemeni people to further contribute to achieving security and stability in Yemen.

“We are keen to see Yemen witnessing a new era of growth and prosperity under the solidarity and unification of its citizens. The UAE leadership and people will always support all efforts that aim to achieve reconciliation between all sectors of the Yemenis by helping Yemen regain security and stability and contribute to Yemen’s development and progress,” Shaikh Khalifa said.

Strategic role

The President was briefed by Hadi on the latest developments in Yemen and lauded the country’s strategic role in realising security and stability in the region. The Yemeni leader praised the UAE’s support under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa and thanked the UAE leadership and people for standing with Yemen at a critical stage and important turning point in its history.

Shaikh Khalifa hosted a lunch banquet in hour of the Yemeni President and his entourage.

Earlier, Hadi was received at Al Mushrif Palace where he was accorded an official ceremonial reception and received a 21-gun salute.

Later, the two Presidents inspected the guard of honour lined up in the courtyard of the palace.

A mission of honour led by Labour Minister Saqr Gobash Saeed Gobash is accompanying the Yemeni President and his delegation during their two-day visit.

New ambassadors welcomed

On Sunday, Shaikh Khalifa received the credentials of 11 new ambassadors to the UAE.

Shaikh Khalifa emphasised the importance of the role of the UAE’s diplomatic missions in helping nationals abroad and attending to their affairs, noting that the UAE considers human beings as its top priority and places all of its resources in the service of the nation and its citizens.

He also reiterated the desire of the UAE to extend bridges of friendship and cooperation among nations and to build balanced relations with all fraternal and friendly countries, highlighting the UAE’s constant endeavour to develop economic, cultural and tourism relations with countries throughout the world.

The President was speaking while receiving the country’s new ambassadors to Germany, Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, and Kazakhstan, Suhail Mattar Al Katbi, who were sworn in before him.

Shaikh Khalifa instructed the new ambassadors to further promote the UAE’s international stature at various levels.

He wished them success in their new posts and to consolidate the UAE’s relations with other countries.

For their part, the envoys thanked Shaikh Khalifa for the confidence he vested in them, pledging to work hard to strengthen the UAE’s relations with the two countries.

The President received credentials from the envoys of Spain, Switzerland, Malaysia, Nigeria, Fiji, Senegal, Austria, Canada, Belgium, Romania and Japan during a special ceremony at Al Dhiyafa Palace.

Shaikh Khalifa welcomed the new ambassadors and wished them success in discharging their mission and enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the UAE and their respective countries.

He reiterated the UAE’s commitment to boosting ties with all fraternal and friendly countries and promised the new envoys total cooperation and support from all state organisations to facilitate the smooth discharge of their duties in the country.

The ambassadors expressed their happiness for representing their countries in the UAE.

The diplomats praised the UAE for its wise policies under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa as well as for its effective role and balanced policies towards international issues.

A reception ceremony was held for the ambassadors before they were received by Shaikh Khalifa.

Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, in addition to other shaikhs and senior officials were also present.
