Abu Dhabi: Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, has highlighted that the UAE assuming a leadership position on the map of humanitarian aid is a sincere expression of the country and its society’s values, and the wisdom and humanity of its leadership.

In tweets on Twitter, commenting on the UAE’s achievement of reaching the first position as the world’s largest donor country of official development assistance (ODA) in 2013, with the highest Official Development Assistance/Gross National Income ratio (ODA/GNI ratio), Gargash said that the UAE’s leading humanitarian position comes “in the context of a holistic vision, which we seek to consolidate, with internal development while striving to communicate positively with the world”.

He added that there nothing makes a person more happy than the fact that his homeland is valued and appreciated as a leading and successful model, both in regard to giving to its citizens or its moral responsibilities towards those who are less fortunate.

Gargash concluded his tweets by tweeting, “Let’s take a moment to appreciate the UAE, express our pride to belong to this good land and realise our responsibilities in moving forward in developing this legacy of kindness.”
