Abu Dhabi: With winter approaching, teams from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), have continued distribution of humanitarian aid to families of displaced Iraqis in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The victims have been driven out from their towns and villages as a result of recent fighting. Thousands of displaced Iraqis have received winter assistance from ERC in Kurdistan’s regions and villages.

Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi, ERC’s Deputy Secretary-General for international aid, said the distribution of winter clothing among displaced Iraqis in Kurdistan is part of the delivery of urgent aid, provided by the authority as implementation of higher directives from ERC, and in co-operation with the UAE General Consulate in Arbil, aimed at providing aid to displaced Iraqis in three camps in Arbil.

Al Shamsi added that the ERC’s rapid response in areas of various catastrophes and disputes, despite security risks and logistical obstacles, reflects ERC’s resolve to provide assistance to affected populations, wherever they are and regardless of other considerations.
