Abu Dhabi: Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking, said the UAE's efforts in combating this trend enhanced its position on the international map of efforts against human trafficking.

Gargash on Sunday chaired a meeting of the committee, which reviewed a number of reports including the participation of the UAE delegation in the second meeting of the working team concerned with human trafficking, which was held in Vienna in January.

The committee also discussed how the media is dealing with human trafficking cases and its victims, and stressed the importance of striking a balance between finding information on one side and protecting the privacy and dignity of the victims of the other.

The committee decided to lay out a framework for related news to protect the victims' privacy without compromising freedom of press.

Gargash said that protecting the privacy of victims is very important in order to allow their integration back into the society.
