Abu Dhabi: The total amount of zakat funds distributed to eligible recipients in the first four months of the year amounted to Dh31 million, the Zakat Fund has announced.
Abdullah Bin Aqeedah Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the Zakat Fund and Head of the Zakat Distribution Committee, said today the Fund had distributed the money to 5,381 recipients.
He added that the Fund was considering adding new categories of people deserving of zakat, the third pillar of Islam, through projects based on the legal channels of zakat.
