Abu Dhabi: The National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia) has projected that the UAE population will rise to 7.557 million in 2010 from 5.63 million, thus increasing by around 1.9 million people as per the official population statistical report issued in 2006.

It added that the UAE population doubles every 8.7 years compared with 55 years for world population.

Tanmia said in its report that the growth of both UAE nationals and expatriates would lead to the exacerbation of the demographic imbalance in the country.

It said that the percentage of the UAE nationals' increment to the population growth dropped from 24.4 per cent to 15.4 per cent from 1995-2006.
