Abu Dhabi: Mushrif Park in Abu Dhabi will be transformed into a community park open to all visitors and renamed Mushrif Central Park. Located in the centre of Abu Dhabi's main island, Mushrif Park was originally opened in 1982 to serve as a residential park for women and children.

Now it is recognised that many of its attractions and facilities need to be updated and refreshed, a statement issued by Seba Properties, which is developing the park, said.

Set among 14 hectares of tranquil landscaped informal and formal gardens, alongside tree-lined promenades, Mushrif Central Park will feature many new attractions and facilities, including an interactive children's museum and a zoo.

For horticulturists or those who just enjoy flora and fauna, there is a botanic garden and shade house to enjoy, while Abu Dhabi's arts and cultural heritage will be nurtured through the performing arts centre and sculpture garden, located within the park.

Ahmad D. Dagher Al Marar, vice-chairman of Al Ain Group, the holding company of Seba Properties said: "Mushrif Park will be seen as a safe and secure destination. It will be truly, a people's park."

The park's design will ensure that over 250 existing broadleaf and palm trees, over 25 years old are replanted in the redeveloped park.

Over 10 per cent of the overall park will be re-vegetated and reclaimed grey water will save up to 40 per cent of consumption.
