Dubai: Live role-play of military activities by the Armed Forces Support Units will take place at Global Village from November 15 to December 7 at Gate One with an aim to instil national pride during the UAE’s 42nd National Day Celebrations.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre, in collaboration with the Armed Forces Support Units, Q7 Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters and the Global Village, will also highlight the role of humanitarian and peacekeeping operations alongside the role-play shows.

There will also be a Heritage Village with a military pavilion near Gate One, said organisers on Friday.

Mohammad Abdul Wahab Bin Dukhan, Director of the Armed Forces Support Units said, “Our main goal by participating in the National Day celebrations is to communicate with civilians, both residents and citizens alike, at a different level and truly show them just how we contribute to the betterment of society through our humanitarian and peacekeeping operations locally and around the world.”

Cultural displays and the shows by the Armed Forces Support Units, as well as a photography exhibition, will share the proud moments of the Support Units’ commitment to peace and their humanitarian relief efforts.

The Heritage Village visitors will also be able to ride in military tankers, and view armoured vehicles, aircraft, boats and weapons. In addition, visitors can take in the military museum and purchase military clothing and goods and watch martial arts shows.

For the competitive at heart, the village will also host an archery competition with many prizes to be awarded by the Armed Forces.

The Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre seeks to promote, instil and communicate indigenous heritage, cultural values, authentic traditions, and national identity to the new generation.

Ebrahim Abdul Hamid, director of events at the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre said, “Through these exhibitions, we aim to engage Emirati society with the Armed Forces. We want to create a sense of belonging for both Emiratis and expatriates while instilling national pride in the younger generation. We also want tourists and residents alike to join us in our National Day celebrations.”
