Dubai: As the world faces a same number palindrome at 11 minutes and 11 seconds past 11am today the debate continues about the significance of the event that happens only once in every 100 years.
While some consider it a highly auspicious day to make new beginnings, there are others who claim it to be a doomsday. Alternative healing and meditation centres are holding special meditations to welcome what they say is a "new era for humankind".
"It has a high spiritual significance for everyone as we enter into an era that marks unity among people," said Ssrija Niar, mind energy body practitioner at the Cosmic Healing Centre.
The "transition", according to alternative healers, is significant.

"It is the beginning of a new era. People are getting more spiritual and this phenomena will only grow… number 11 in numerology too is a master number, which is not reduced to a single digit and is considered to be more powerful," said a Reiki practitioner.
Karishma Lakhwani, centre manager, Third Eye Centre, said the centre is holding a special meditation session.
However, not all believe 11:11 to hold special significance. "It is not as if we will face a sudden shift or transformation on a particular day or time. The spiritual evolution or transformation is gradual. There is no special astronomical significance. Generally, one can say it is good to meditate," said Prakash Balagopal, Pranic Healer, GMCKS Pranic Energy Healing Centre in Dubai.
