Ras Al Khaimah: A UAE national family who found a newborn boy abandoned on their doorstep has said they are prepared to take care of him.
The family discovered the newborn on Friday and reported the case to the police. The police handed the child, who is believed to be of Far Eastern origin, over to Saqr Hospital.
Police sources said the family contacted the police to report the abandoned baby.
They immediately took care of him when they found him on their doorstep.
Sources at Saqr Hospital said the baby will remain in the hospital until the Ras Al Khaimah Public Prosecution and Court department find suitable people to adopt him.
The sources added that Saqr Hospital had received a number of newborn abandoned babies and the same procedures had been implemented in these cases.
The sources added the baby was currently the only abandoned newborn in Saqr Hospital.
