Dubai: A 61-year old Finnish woman, who was left in Dubai Hospital in a semi-vegetative state for almost five years, has reunited with her husband in Finland.

Anna Agnew, who suffered a stroke while visiting Dubai with her English husband David in January 2004, was in the hospital here until October 6 this year, two months after Gulf News reported her plight.

The news sparked outrage in the UAE and in Finland, serving as catalyst for her repatriation.

David Agnew, Anna's invalid husband, flew to Finland to visit her in Kuopio Hospital last week, courtesy of a Finnish tabloid.

He told Gulf News he had mixed emotions when he saw her.

"It was lovely to see her again, but unfortunately, there has been no improvement. It was very nice to see her but I don't feel very happy with the circumstances," he said. Doctors said there was little chance of recovery, he added.

However, he still held hope for a miracle.
