Abu Dhabi: Measures to enhance pedestrian safety, such as the building of footpaths and speed bumps as well as the erection of fences, were recently undertaken by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City in the Bain Al Jisreen and Abu Dhabi Gate City areas of the capital, the municipality announced.

In addition, internal roads in the areas were paved and more road signs were installed, the municipality told residents of the areas at a communal gathering.

The gathering was organised as part of the municipality's Al Multaqa initiative, which aims to provide residents, especially women, with an opportunity to communicate directly with the municipality.

After being briefed about municipality projects in the two areas, residents who attended the session called for more pedestrian safety measures, as well as more recreational facilities like parks and playgrounds. They also urged the municipality to relocate large trees that blocked some of the roads.

Concerns

Khalifa Mohammad Al Mazroui, general manager of the municipality, told attendees at the gathering that the municipality would respond to their concerns soon.

He also urged them to help the municipality in relocating bachelors away from family residential areas to the capital's worker residential cities.

Al Mazroui added that the municipality would hold regular Al Multaqa sessions to communicate with residents about their views and concerns, and also to brief them about municipality projects in their area.
