Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi's municipality is continuing its crackdown against illegal construction in residential apartments, villas, and commercial buildings in the capital.

The campaign, which runs in cooperation with several other authorities, aims to stop bachelors from occupying accommodation in residential buildings designated for families and commercial units.

It also aims to carry out court orders related to illegal construction.

The municipality claims to have issued several warnings to owners, investors and inhabitants of the buildings, highlighting the hazards of illegal structures on their lives, security and hygiene.

The municipality indicated that these measures have been taken after identifying the problematic buildings.

It called on all residents to adhere to construction regulations and seek the required permits, from the Construction Permits Division at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, in case they planned to carry out additional construction, adding that this would help safeguard lives and avoid fines.

Consequences

Recently, the municipality demolished several buildings which violated set regulations.

In keeping with laws and regulations, warnings had been issued, followed by power cuts over successive stages, to grant people an opportunity to move to other dwellings for the sake of their own health and safety.

The municipality was forced to take tough measures, in accordance with the law, against investors and residents in villas who failed to pay heed to repeated warnings.
