Dubai: A team of experts tasked with developing hamour breeding was awarded recently.

Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, awarded the team for their efforts and success in developing breeding techniques and overcoming many obstacles that faced the process.

The minister expressed his gratitude to the team for their extraordinary endeavours in finding ways to prevent preying, increasing numbers of hamour fish and finding inexpensive methods of limiting losses of production. The minister also discussed with the team the possibility of including other fish in the process, especially the species that are more exposed to extinction. Dr Mariam Hassan Al Shanasi, the CEO of technical affairs in the ministry, said that technology of cultivating marine creatures is considered one of the fastest growing sectors in the world with a growth rate of 7 to 10 per cent annually.
