Dubai: A teacher injured in the third annual triathlon in the capital last Saturday is still in critical condition, Gulf News has learnt.

Carly Williams, 29, was a volunteer helper at the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon 2012, which was organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (ADTCA).

Williams, who works as a physical education and grade 11 tutor at The British School Al Khubairat, was injured when Andrew Starykowicz, an American professional competitor collided with her at an aid station close to the Mina junction, the ADTCA said in a statement sent to Gulf News  on Wednesday. She was rushed to the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City with severe head injuries.

"She [Williams] is in still a critical condition but stable, and carries all our best wishes for a speedy recovery," Paul Coackley, the school's principal, said when contacted on Wednesday.
