Nine injured in sixth-floor Sharjah elevator plunge
Four children injured, two women in critical condition after elevator plunges down
I saw a building in Majarrah , Sharjah The buildings lift is in bad condition, the entrance of the building stinks, the building toilet stinks , no proper maintenance and the owner of the building isnt reducing the shop rents or the flat rents, because of which only 2-3 flats are rented , the whole building is empty !! Sharjah Municipality should work on this matter

I think there is a necessity for municipality to check each building every year and certify that safe to live. Many buildings lack with elevators, water tanks never cleaned, no proper fire alarms. Hope the authorities should take more care.

the building maintainence companies are not taking care even when they know the problem. In my building tower every time one lift remains close or whenever it works it slips while going up and down and they are not taking care of the problem. just to cheat the people they remain it close of one or two days and after that when it is enable it is with the same problem. Municipality should check the building lifts and stairs way to ensure that they are taken care by the building to avoid such fatalities.

The maintenance issues in Sharjah are far poorer when compared to Dubai or other cities. The authorities should intervene and fine those greedy landlords who are flouting the safety rules.

I live in Sharjah. My building has 7 floors and there are 2 lifts. for the last 5 months one lift has not worked and the second lift is in mint condition, with broken buttons. Whenever we use it, we feel afraid for our lives. I have informed the concerned so many times, but no proper answer has come and nothing has happened. I request the authorities, can some one please take notice of this?

This is not the first incident of such nature. our building lifts in rolla are also in terrible condition. you can feel the vibrrations and many buttons do not work. Yet the renovations are going on to improve the outer look and main reception. I think owners should be made to check/fix lifts on a regular basis, especially in over populated areas as ours where there is constant rush of children going to school, tuitions and men going to work, masjid, etc. how many times there have been distressed children stuck in or a crowd trying to get onto their floors without lifts?
