Dubai: Civil Defence firemen put out a fire on a dhow (boat) in under 20 minutes on Sunday afternoon.

The fire started in the front part of the boat in Dubai Creek at 1.10pm, and within six minutes the firefighters arrived and managed to extinguish it in about 10 minutes, said Major Ali Al Mutawa, Director of the operations room of Civil Defence.

No injuries were reported in the fire. There was minor damage to the front part of the boat, but because it was in the diesel tank area, there was thick black smoke in the area, Major Al Mutawa said.
