Abu Dhabi: Students from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) presented a remote control car they made as part of their course to the chief executive officer of Etihad Airways during a visit to the airline’s headquarters last week.
Students made the Etihad Airways-branded remote control car for their Zayed Project engineering programme. They presented it to Etihad in recognition of its title sponsorship of the inaugural Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The car boasts ‘plane power’ that gives it a powerful boost when it accelerates. It will be displayed in the atrium in the Etihad headquarters and at the Yas Marina Circuit during the race.
Partnership agreement
The visit follows a partnership agreement established earlier this year between the HCTs and Etihad to support the development of the UAE national workforce by providing students with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in aviation engineering technology. It also involves offering students work experience in several departments.
“There is a need for greater cooperation and collaboration between the educational institutions and the industry, and commercial organisations have a responsibility to provide opportunities for real world experience,” said James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways.
