Ras Al Khaimah: An Emirati father has forgiven his 20-year old son for marrying a 35-year-old Moroccan woman who worked in a coffee shop in Ras Al Khaimah after several months of dispute over the matter.

The Emarati student has dropped the case filed in the RAK court accusing his father of beating and insulting him and forcing him to divorce his wife, a judiciary official said yesterday. The young Emarati had married the woman a year ago and even rented a flat for her without his family's consent, the official said. The family was upset about the marriage as the woman worked in a coffee shop and was already married twice before, the official added.

Return home

The father forced him to divorce his wife and return home, but the son refused the family's plea and filed a case against his father.

In reaction, the father requested the RAK police to arrest his son over his bad attitude. He claimed his son was under the "influence of magic" and that the Moroccan woman demanded money to divorce their son.

The son was arrested and put in jail for more than two weeks. On Sunday he dropped the case and sought forgiveness from his father and also divorced the woman.
