Dubai: An Egyptian taxi driver on Tuesday denied in court the claims of a British passenger that he molested her while giving her a lift to Dubai Marina.

Prosecutors charged the 40-year-old T.H. that he hugged, kissed and groped the 37-year-old British marketing coordinator in his cab.

Denying the charges and pleading not guilty before the Dubai Court of First Instance, T.H. contended: "That did not happen at all your honour… I need time to review the file and appoint a defence lawyer."

The British woman testified to prosecutors that she pushed the suspect away from her twice before she opened the passenger door, stepped out and stopped another taxi.

"I asked him to drop me at the Marina area. I noticed late that he drove towards the Jumeirah Palm because I was busy using my phone… he pulled on a side parking spot and tried to molest me. He grabbed my hand and tried to put it on his private parts… I pushed him away and stepped out. I asked the other taxi driver for help," she claimed to prosecutors. The trial continues.
