Dubai: A Nepalese worker admitted in court Monday that he had illegally consumed alcohol but denied charges he molested a woman in public.

"I was heavily imbibed and I did not know what I did," the 38-year-old defendant said as he appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

Prosecutors accused the defendant, R.K., of consuming liquor and molesting a 38-year-old Filipina while she was heading for the Metro station in Al Rigga together with her husband.

Presenting his side before Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout, R.K. said: "I am not guilty on the molestation charge but I consumed alcohol."
