Gang of 18 men arrested for kidnapping, murder, bootlegging
Four kidnapped men were found at the men's residence, police official says
According to Brigadier Yousuf Al Naqbi, Director of Criminal Investigation (CID) at Sharjah Police, the men were also suspected of robbery and impersonating Sharjah Police officers.
Kidnapped
At the time of arrest police were able to release four Indians who were allegedly kidnapped by the gang and tortured. All four were found with their hands tied with ropes and their mouths gagged with sticky tape.
According to Brigadier Al Naqbi, both gangs specialised in the illegal distribution of alcohol in the Sharjah industrial areas, and were involved in the kidnapping, murder and torture of members of rival gangs within the Industrial areas and Saja'a Industrial Area.
Although most of their activities were in conducted in the Sharjah industrial areas, they lived in the new Ajman Industrial area.
Brigadier Al Naqbi said that when a team of CID officers went to arrest the gang at their residence in Ajman industrial area — with the cooperation of Ajman Police — they were faced with resistance, but eventually police were able to overpower gang members.
He said that the gang of Asians operated under the ring-leader R.S.S. The ring-leader allegedly worked for a UAE national, identified as Hanif H.M.
"Besides the gang kidnapping the four Indian men, we also found a wide range of knives, swords and traces of blood all over the house, alcohol in their residence, and an amount of Dh218,000 in cash," said Brigadier Al Naqbi.
When interrogated by CID, R.S.S allegedly confessed he was the leader of a gang that dealt in illegal alcohol and kidnapping.
