Dubai: The fate of a 30-year-old Emirati man who is on death row for raping and murdering a four-year-old Pakistani boy, will be decided by Dubai's highest court on June 7.

In courtroom 22 on Monday, Dubai Court of Cassation's Presiding Judge Mohammad Nabil Riyad said the final judgment against 30-year-old R.R. will be handed down next week.

Advocate Abdul Rahman Al Mudharreb, defending R.R. had asked the Appeals Court to commute his client's death sentence to a life sentence.

Al Mudharreb contended that a sane person could not commit such a crime saying; "A sane ... person does not commit the crimes he committed ... ultimately he requires social and psychological care."
