Dubai: An executive and a female manager who met at a nightclub and had consensual sex at a luxurious hotel in Downtown Dubai have each been jailed for six months. The 43-year-old executive, A.M., from the Comoros Islands, picked up the 39-year-old Uzbek manager, F.A., from the nightclub in Naif and took her to his apartment at the luxurious hotel in June 2013.

Records said F.A. agreed to have sex with A.M. for Dh1,500 for the night.

A police lieutenant testified the Uzbek woman initially claimed that the man had raped her before she changed her statement, contending that A.M. took back the money he had paid her.

Prosecutors charged the woman with prostitution. Meanwhile the executive was charged with having consensual sex with F.A. and drinking liquor.

The Dubai Court of First Instance handed six-month jail terms to the defendants. A.M. was given an additional month in jail for drinking liquor.

“The couple will be deported after serving their jail terms,” said presiding judge Mohammad Jamal on Sunday.

The duo denied the sex charges when they appeared in court. A.M. admitted to drinking alcohol.

Crying

“Initially the woman claimed that she was raped. Later she retracted her allegations and confessed that she had paid sex with A.M. She said the man took the money that he had paid her and ordered her to leave the hotel without creating problems. When I questioned her, F.A. claimed that the man constantly did that to sex workers,” the lieutenant testified.

A Bangladeshi taxi driver said he spotted F.A. crying and running barefoot in the street.

“She jumped into the taxi and asked me to drive off quickly. She handed me her phone and asked me to take directions to her destination from the caller. I took her to Al Nahda. She was scared and her blouse was torn. While driving, she told me that she worked in prostitution and had agreed to have sex with A.M. for Dh1,500 after she met him in a pub. After they had sex, she claimed the man took back the money from her purse and threw her out,” said the driver.

Prosecution records identified the woman’s job description as a manager.

The ruling remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
