I would like to bring to the attention of the Abu Dhabi Municipality, the disturbance and nuisance caused by pigeons in residential areas.

Usually, these birds stay on balcony parapets and fly off at night. But sometimes, they make homes inside our balconies and find a place to lay their eggs, which causes the area to fill up with feathers and bird stool, and develop a bad smell.

I find it very difficult to get rid of pigeons from my balcony. Additionally, the pavement outside our building has become very dirty, because of bird droppings.

If any cars are parked near buildings where pigeons live, they are covered with droppings within a few hours.

This situation occurs often in the Tourist Club area as it is home to around 200 birds. Several are seen on balconies of buildings, creating a nuisance for residents.

The main reason why this situation has spiralled out of control is because of a few ignorant individuals who entertain the pigeons and provide them with bird feed and water.

Such practices are good and even encouraged in villages and places that have a lot of trees. But considering the fact that the Capital is a metropolitan city, this has become a major source of disturbance.

Feeding one pigeon can result in hundreds of birds gathering around in the area and expecting food every day.

I urge the Municipality to find a solution for this issue. Perhaps these pigeons could be repelled from the city centre and allowed to stay in a remote area.
