Recently, on a Friday, I went to Abu Dhabi Corniche and, instead of my usual route towards the public beach, I decided to walk in the opposite direction towards the Mina area.

On my way there, just in front of the Shaikh Khalifa Energy Complex, I found a corner which was horribly filthy and disgusting!

I was shocked to see such a scene. It was like someone had emptied an entire garbage bin into the water.

The contents included empty soft drink cans, bottles, plastic glasses and even cans of cooking oil, hair cream and paint.

I urge the authorities to take strict action against the destruction of the city's most beautiful place.

Perhaps they could place large signs informing people that those e found littering will be fined.

If it is not possible to stop the public from littering, I would urge the Municipality to clean the Corniche from time to time, to protect the water from getting dirty in such a horrible way.

This is also my request to visitors of the Corniche — please stop destroying this beautiful area with your garbage.
