Graffiti on walls and garbage dumped on the sidewalks make for an ugly sight in residential areas. Image Credit: Supplied by Vishal R

I want to bring the attention of the authorities to this displeasing sight. It all started when garbage was piled up by the building’s maintenance team on the pavement. Over the days, this area has become a dumping ground for used cans, food, leftovers, cigarette butts, plastic bags and many other things.

This area is a sidewalk for pedestrians and leads to the entrance of two buildings.

I have also noticed garbage and waste being disposed in improper ways outside the garbage bins. It is a sad sight and it shows that people have stooped to a new low. This has been occurring for over a month and no action has been taken.

Moreover, people are hanging laundry in an unhygienic way in their apartment’s balcony that may even affect the health and safety of other residents. I have understood that hanging clothes in balconies is against the law, but it’s sad when people don’t adhere to this.

Finally, I want to point out the vandalism in the form of graffiti on the walls of the same building, which has been there for a couple of years. I have read community reports in the past on this issue of vandalism on the walls of buildings on King Faisal Street and Abu Shagara area, in Sharjah. However, no action has been taken yet.

I would appreciate and request the authorities to do the needful and make this community more hygienic, clean and a safer place.
