Old road markings in Al Wahda have motorists confused, according to Gulf News reader Munira Joher. She said: "I almost had a head-on collision with another car..." Image Credit: Munira Joher/Gulf News Reader

Recently I came across a dangerous problem, and I wanted to share it with Gulf News in the hope of helping the authorities find a remedy.

I live in Al Wahda, in Sharjah, near the newly built bridge. Before the bridge came into existence, we had diversions for traffic, which ran through the locality's hypermarket all the way to the furniture showrooms and car workshops — and even well beyond it.

Now the problem is, it used to be a one-way street all the way, but with the opening of the bridge, it has become a two-way road.

Most motorists are not aware of this and it is a clear and present danger facing all motorists. There are no road signs to suggest which is the right way.

Very recently, I almost had a head-on collision with another car on these roads. It is like an accident waiting to happen.

I hope the relevant authorities take a look at the situation and install the right road signs to make the roads safe for all motorists.
