Sharjah

I would like to report about the horrible state of a garbage bin that has been kept on the pavement near a leading supermarket in the Abu Shagara area of Sharjah.

Although proper space has been provided for stationing garbage bins all over the emirate, for reasons unknown, this particular garbage bin has been kept right on the pavement (as seen in the photograph). It is making it very difficult for pedestrians to use this pathway.

There are a few restaurants and eateries along this stretch of the road and so the street is always bustling with people. The foul smell arising from the garbage bin is extremely nauseating.

Also, many a times, a lot of garbage is kept piled up outside this bin. Apart from being an eyesore, this poses serious health hazards. The placement of the bin on the pavement at a street corner and the stench arising from it are also putting pedestrians in danger. I have seen people running across the street in an attempt to get away from the bin, even when there is no pedestrian crossing nearby. This is extremely dangerous!

I request the concerned authorities to move the bin to a more appropriate location at the earliest.
