Manama: One worker was killed and another gravely injured as angry employees attacked the officers and vehicles of a company that failed to pay them for four months, a Saudi report said.

The two workers were hit by the car of a company officer who was attempting to flee the angry rally.

The protest was staged by the workers of a company involved in a project at King Abdul Aziz Airport in the city of Jeddah in western Saudi Arabia, who said they had not been paid for four months and wanted their money, Saudi news site Sabq reported on Wednesday.

Sources said that the second man hit by the company officer had been taken to a local hospital by an ambulance team.

"Security authorities launched an investigation into the accident and the rally," the sources added.

One employee quoted by Sabq confirmed that the workers refused to attend to their tasks and attacked the offices and cars of the company, causing destruction and damages.

Online users expressed outrage that such incidents happened and blamed both the company for not paying its staff on time and the workers for attacking the offices and cars.
