Manama: Saudis on social media say drifters performing dangerous stunts should be either jailed or recruited by the army.

The calls were issued in comments following the posting on social media of a short clip showing Saudi daredevils jumping into a tilted car moving at high speed on two wheels.

Saudi drifters’ penchant for extreme stunts with cars moving at high speed or on two wheels is an increasing phenomenon which has sparked calls for action against them.

The man who filmed the latest action to go viral on social media expressed outrage and wished for action against the drifters for putting their own lives and the lives of other people at risk. He said he believed they were ‘high on drugs’.

A blogger writing under the moniker of Patriot said that questioned the IQ level of drifters.

“They may have grown up bodies, but their minds are very small,” Patriot said. “I wonder when they will grow up and behave like normal human beings. They should be locked up until they come to their senses and realise the extent of their dangerous acts.”

A blogger calling herself “Woman from Jeddah” said that she found the clip shocking.

“They are ridiculously stupid and their behaviour is a catalogue of failures,” she said. “I can never for instance marry any of them because they are so immature.”

Intellectual, another blogger, said he was sure the men were not in a normal state of mind.

“To do what they did, a man has to be high or without brains. Such daredevil acts should be avoided, especially that they are not professionals doing their job on a movie set.”

For Haqqani, the performance was an ostentatious display of skills.

“But it was so dangerous that lives could have been lost,” he said. “There is no benefit or advantage to such acts and they should be avoided. Our young generation needs to understand their purpose in life and avoid sliding into dangerous adventures.”

However, Mature said that comments should be more understanding towards the young men.

“These are young people filled with great energy and the issue is how to release it,” Mature said. “A positive move will be to send them to the army where they can be trained on special operations that require great skills and daring courage. In such a case, the nation will benefit and the young men will use their energy serving the country.”

Sniper said the young men could be useful in military operations.

“They should be given an adequate training and sent to the southern borders where they can become real heroes,” he said. “Real stories of heroism can be made only on a battlefield, not on a road where they can harm themselves and others,” he added.

Abu Al Waleed said the young men were gifted and should be encouraged to use their skills for the sake of the homeland.

“They are truly gifted and they are so brave they do not fear death,” he said. “Such attributes should be used positively, not condemned,” he said.
