Manama: A Saudi imam has said he will use an iPad to read his sermon next Friday, a Saudi news portal reported on Tuesday.
Shaikh Khalid Bawazeer will do away with the traditional paper notes and will instead use an ipad from which he will read out his sermon to the worshippers at the Furqan Mosque in Jeddah, the Sabq portal said.
"The use of technology is very significant and will make preparing the sermon and reading it much easier," the technology-savvy imam said.
According to Sabq, Shaikh Khalid had used his personal laptop to read out a sermon, but the ipad usage will be a first in Saudi Arabia.
This follows last month's incident when the iPad bridged the gap between technology and faith after a priest resorted to the latest Apple device to say holy mass. Don Michele Bigi, a Catholic priest in Italy, did away with the heavy book, and used the iPad in the mass at a summer camp in Gramolazzo, Tuscany.
The device was really easy to use, the priest reportedly said, according to All Saints Church.
