Islamabad: The e-portal of the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah has received more than 594,000 applications from citizens and expatriates to perform Haj this year.

The portal which was launched on May 30, for domestic pilgrims offers the facilitation of low-cost Haj services.

Authorities say seats reserved for low-cost services completely filled up two hours after the services were announced on Saturday. There were around 45,000 seats in total.

According to authorities, 27,000 domestic pilgrims have opted for the general Haj programme—the most expensive of the three categories.

The portal will accept applications until the cut off date on August 18.

Fees should be paid within 48 hours of applying or the reservations will be cancelled.
