Manama: Police in Saudi Arabia are investigating a Saudi man accused of transmitting the human immunodeficiency virus that causes the Aids disease to his unsuspecting wife.

According to the case papers, the wife who is from an African country, discovered that she was infected when she had a routine laboratory check-up while abroad.

Shocked by the result, she had five more tests in Saudi Arabia that confirmed the diagnosis, local news site Sabq reported on Wednesday.

The mother of five, confident about her own lifestyle and behaviour, confronted her husband, a 44-year-old executive, and he eventually admitted that he had a secret marriage with their African domestic helper and that she spread the Aids disease to him.

However, when the wife called the helper, she told her that she had never married him and that he had lured her into the relationship with money.

The helper added that she was aware that the husband had sexual relationships with several women and expressed concern that she too might have been infected with the deadly virus.

Under the shock of the unfolding dramatic events that ruined her life, the wife filed a formal complaint at the police station, requesting legal action against her husband.

The police launched an investigation and summoned the husband for questioning.

Online comments expressed sympathy and compassion with the “innocent and suspecting” wife and cursed the husband for his “vicious, depraved and sinful behaviour”.
