Manama: Two members of the upper house of Bahrain's parliament, the Shura Council, who resigned last month, returned to their seats at the weekly session on Monday.

The two, Ali Al Asfoor and Dhia Al Mousawi, were among several members who quit the council during the recent unrest to protest against the way the government handled the political turmoil hitting the country. However, five later withdrew their resignations.

Unlike the members of the lower chamber, who are elected by the people, members of the Shura Council are appointed by the Bahraini king.
