Manama: Dubai's police chief has suggested that the world is witnessing a clash of dollars, and not a clash of civilizations or religions, where the major victims are Arabs and Jews and the main beneficiary is the West.
Addressing a security conference in Bahrain, Lieutenant-General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, said: "Who killed six million Jews? It is the West, not Arabs. The West cares about money, and it is trafficking in the security of the Arabs and Israelis at the same time.
"The West does not go along with the Jews out of love, but rather because it is seeking their wealth to make weapons that they will sell to the Arabs."
His comments came at the Middle East: Homeland and Global Security Forum, which concluded on Tuesday.
He added: "The West wants to have wars because its commerce is based on selling weapons. It uses all kinds of names to justify the wars, and it is really after the money of affluent Jews."
The senior officer said that Arabs and Jews should sit together to sort out a deal that will bring them closer, insisting that as cousins they did not need the sponsorship off outsiders.
"The Jews are our cousins and there is no difference between them and the Arabs. Genetic tests have proved that they were the closest to the Arabs and throughout the ages, the greatest help Jews have received was from Muslims," he told the audience of past and present ministers, ambassadors and officers from the five continents.
Dialogue should start in this region and not elsewhere because both Arabs and Jews are from here and they can agree on a peace formula, according to the police chief.
"We and the Jews have lived together on this land throughout history and dialogue should not be imposed from outside. We need to admit that blowing up buses carrying Jews is an act of terrorism, just like blowing up a Palestinian home," he said.
Tamim blamed the West for the emergence of terrorists and the spread of terrorism. "Who has created terrorism and terrorists? Isn't it the West? I am an old officer and lived through the era. I know that it is the West that trained terrorists in Afghanistan to confront the Soviet Union.
"[Osama] Bin Laden was a billionaire and they first called him in to give money to the mujahideen because their leaders swindled them, while he was trustworthy. Three years later, he became a mujahid with 5,000 men.
"And when the war was over, they dismissed him because he had become a dangerous man, so he went to Sudan and swore to fight the US," said Tamim.
"His assets were frozen and he now wants them back, while President Bush wants to dominate the world's finances."
