Dubai: The youth are the future of the nation and the UAE is committed to supporting their development. So said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
To harness the energy and dynamism of young people, Shaikh Mohammad announced a two-day retreat next week to discuss everything that concerns the country's youth — from their dreams and aspirations to the challenges they face under the hashtag #TheNationalDialogueOnYouth.
In a series of tweets showing his confidence in the abilities and capabilities of young men and women in the UAE, he said: “The youth make up the majority of this nation, and taking care of them is the same as caring for our future, and helping them grow and develop helps the nation develop and prosper. We are a young nation and we are proud of our youth.”
In another tweet, he said: “Brothers and sisters, over the coming days, we want to focus on the youth in the country, their dreams, aspirations and challenges, we want to carry out #TheNationalDialogueOnYouth.”

He followed the announcement with questions that need to be addressed during the retreat.
Aspirations, dreams
“What do we really want from the youth, and what do the youth want from us? How can we support them and enable them to do their part towards their country,” he said.
“We need different ideas and suggestions on this. I will hold a two-day retreat next week, which will invite officials and youth to discuss various ideas. We will have all the concerned parties join us, including those with positive and creative ideas.”
Using the hashtag, he also posted a video on his Twitter where he is heard talking about the youth of the nation.
“We’ve had many achievements, the biggest achievement in UAE is the youth. You have great ideas, you are the youth of this country, you can contribute with your grand ideas and suggestions.”
