Dubai: A manager has been accused of assaulting a driver and causing him a permanent disability after the latter trespassed into his villa to discuss a previous financial dispute.

The 56-year-old Pakistani driver allegedly went to his 39-year-old countryman manager’s villa in Bur Dubai to discuss their previous financial dispute in December.

The two men got into a heated argument at the pavement outside the villa, according to records, before the driver forced his way into the manager’s house without his consent.

When the manager tried to prevent the driver from entering his house, the two got involved in a physical altercation before the 39-year-old assaulted the 56-year-old.

A Pakistani businessman spotted the two men exchanging blows before the driver fell down and cried in pain. The businessman rushed him to a hospital.

Prosecutors accused the manager of assaulting the driver and causing him a two per cent permanent disability in his left arm.

Meanwhile, the 56-year-old was charged with trespassing into the manager’s house.

The driver failed to show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance where he was scheduled to enter his plea on Thursday.

The manager pleaded not guilty and handed a written waiver that he had obtained from the 56-year-old to presiding judge Urfan Omar.

In his capacity as a victim, the 39-year-old testified to prosecutors that he got into a heated argument when the driver came to his villa to discuss their financial dispute.

“I met him outside the house and asked him to give me back my money … then he walked into the house. When I tried to pull him out, he got angry and beat me on my head and knocked me down. The businessman saw what had happened and stopped the fight … then he took me to the hospital. When I was about to report the assault to the police, the 56-year-old begged me not to and promised to pay back my money,” he claimed to prosecutors.

The trial continues.
