Dubai: A site supervisor has been accused of molesting an eight-year-old girl while she was playing hide-and-seek with her brother in the building where they live.

The 21-year-old Pakistani supervisor was said to have taken the Indian girl aside in the play area, kissed and touched her indecently and then threatened to kill her if she told anyone about what he did to her in August.

Prosecutors accused the suspect of molesting the girl and threatening to kill her.

The suspect pleaded not guilty and refuted the charges at Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.

Prosecutors said the suspect hugged, kissed and groped her and also bit her neck.

The suspect presented to presiding judge Urfan Omar a written defence in which he asked to be acquitted.

The girl testified to prosecutors that the incident happened after the suspect asked her and her brother to play hide-and-seek.

“He spotted us under the building near the playing area. He asked us to play and when my brother went to hide, the suspect took me to an isolated place near the stairs. He touched me indecently and kissed me … he hugged me. When he bit my neck, I slapped him and pushed him away. As I walked away, he told me that if I told anyone what he did he would kill me,” she claimed to prosecutors.

The girl’s father told prosecutors that his daughter informed him about what had happened when he went to check why she had been crying.

“I heard her crying and when I went to check on her, she told me that the suspect had threatened to kill her. She claimed to me that the suspect behaved indecently with her and bit her neck,” the father testified.

The suspect was apprehended shortly after the father reported the matter to the police.

A ruling will be heard on November 28.
