Justin Bieber, start your engine: Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh says in a race, he’ll beat the 19-year-old speed demon hands down. (On Sunday, global dreamboat Bieber triggered speed cameras while driving a white Lamborghini Avendator on Dubai’s Shaikh Zayed Road.) Singh says he’ll race the singer safely, though.
“I never want to disrespect the laws in Dubai. But if they allow me to speed up, I think I can leave that kid behind,” said Singh in an interview with tabloid! on Wednesday.
Though the Angrezi Beat singer wasn’t aware of the incident until tabloid! sought comment, he was quick to mention that his street-toughened upbringing will come in handy during the race.
“He’s an American kid and we came from the streets,” said Singh with a flashiness that put to shame the gigantic chandeliers hanging at our meeting point, Dubai’s Cavalli Club. Incidentally, Singh, who loves fast cars, is also a huge fan of Dubai Police’s decision to add super cars such as a Lamborghini Aventador and a Ferrari to their fleet.
“I saw them and it’s amazing. Lamborghini is my favourite. I find women and cars unique. There’s something about them,” said Singh in Hindi.
The Punjbai-born, UK-raised rapper was in the city to shoot a birthday party sequence at the club for the film Zaalim Dilli.
Singh will make his first cameo in the romantic comedy, directed by Japinder Kaur, who grew up in Dubai, with his own club composition.
“I read in reports that Japinder had to work a lot to convince me. Believe me, there was no convincing involved. I sid ‘yes’ to Japinder the moment she asked me. All credit should go to her for making this song fabulous,” said Singh.
The crew of Zaalim Dilli, featuring Divyendu Sharma and beauty queen Prachi Mishra, will be in Dubai this week to shoot two song sequences. The first one is set at Cavalli club and the second sequence, which is a fantasy dream song, will be set at Dubai’s Miracle Garden.
