Leniency in rules: One late or missed assignment won’t get you into trouble. Ten points off is not the same as getting the axe.

A routine that sticks to plans: Your schedule is made out for you in advance, and you aren’t expected to be in two or three places at the same time.

Avenues for expression: You have many opportunities to be seen, heard, and read. It is not just the corporate newsletter and the company picnic. There’s the yearbook, school newspaper, literary and art magazine, bulletin boards, drama club, choir, debate...

Multi-faceted development: You can get away with exploring subject areas completely out of your realm of expertise. Art? Chemistry? Psychology? Creative writing? Music? You can delve right in.

Time to workout even during working hours: The physical education/gym class gives a chance to work off some steam during school hours. One word: Dodgeball!

Endless social activities: High school gives you plenty of clubs and after-school organisations, plus recess, lunch, carnivals, festivals, proms, overseas travel. There’s always something happening.

Field trips: Instead of sitting there stuck in that cubicle, wouldn’t you rather visit a museum, a zoo, a sports camp, or just take a nature hike?

Guidance available via counsellors: Wouldn’t it be nice if we adults had someone to help us determine what we want to be as we ‘grow’ up?

Your promotion is a celebration – an elaborate ceremony involving caps, gowns, speeches, awards, sentimentality, and joy. Your parents aren’t going to come see you get promoted to the next level.
