Dubai. French daredevil Alain Robert, who is popularly known as “Spiderman,” will attempt a world-record climb up the world’s tallest twisted Cayan Tower in Dubai Marina on April 12.

The free climber’s death-defying stunt will coincide with the launch of a Dh1 billion residential and serviced apartment project of Cayan Group in Umm Suqeim area.

The Cayan Tower, formerly known as Infinity, is a 73-storey luxury apartment building. The Guinness Book of World Records declared the structure as the tallest twisted tower in the world in 2013.

Robert became widely known after climbing some of the iconic architectural structures in the world. Without the help of safety ropes, the 52-year-old had scaled the Burj Khalifa, Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower and the Empire State Building.

“I have had my eyes set on this gigantic building ever since it achieved its record-breaking status and I am excited about climbing the tower. I look forward to adding Cayan Tower to my list of conquests and I hope I will be successful in my endeavor,” Robert said.

Robert expressed his interest to climb the tower as early as in 2013 yet and Cayan Group readily welcomed the idea.

Cayan Group’s real estate project launch on Sunday will be held at the Grosvenor House in Dubai which will have a view of the twisted tower.

“An exciting announcement such as this one [project] needed to be done amidst a thrilling event and thus we have in store for our guests an electrifying record-breaking climb by Alain Robert. I would like to wish him the very best of luck for his death-defying feat,” said Ahmed Alhatti, president and chairman of Cayan Group.

The public is welcome to witness Robert’s attempt, which will be broadcast live on television.
