Children around the world will find a a new advocate in Julie Anne San Jose.

The Filipino star, who earned the monicker “Asia’s Pop Sweetheart”, was named the newest Celebrity Advocate for Children of World Vision, an international child-focused non-government organisation.

Following San Jose’s appointment on August 25, the star is expected to be more involved in various charity and community outreach efforts, especially those promoting children’s rights, well-being and education.

San Jose started her career as a child.

“We have been witness to how she genuinely cares for the children and we know that this will be the beginning of a beautiful journey with her in ensuring that every child lives his/her life to the fullest,” said World Vision Manager for Public Awareness and Experience Pamela Millora.

San Jose has already been involved in various World Vision initiatives, such as ‘Bangon Pinoy’, a concert for the benefit of Typhoon Haiyan survivors in 2013, and more recently, the ‘White Event’, an online celebrity auction for a cause. She also sponsors two children with World Vision.

Meanwhile, she is currently part of the comedy-musical variety program Sunday PinaSaya, Pepito Manaloto and Buena Familia on the GMA network.
