Her collection of jalabiyas with matching trousers, turbans and silver accessories, harked back to another time, a time where different tribes of Bedouins roamed the deserts of Arabia.

While the show began with a stunningly embroidered selection of jalabiyas, with wide sashes and silver accessories, it ended with a few short, sleeveless dresses. as if to show the transition from past to present.

A touch of tradition

But even the “modern" clothes had a touch of tradition in the accessories. One particular knee-length “modern" dress had Arabic calligraphy around the hem. The usual long jalabiya was also fashioned into short jackets with a pair of jeans beneath.

Amina said: “The current collection is based on the awakening of the desert woman to the best of the future. While coming from the past, she is moving towards the future, carrying her values, traditions and beliefs along with her to challenge the new era."

She added: “The collection falls into the traditional echoes coming from the tribal clothing of the Arabian Peninsula.

Vivid fabrics

“The details of the cuts are preserved in conjunction of vivid rich, modern textiles. The bright colours reflect desert life where rich colours were frequently used." Red, orange, green, maroon and lots of gold and silver are used in a mix of luxury and glamour throughout the collection.

“Black signifies mystery and the beige colour is reflecting the sand and the wind of the desert which is the challenge that faces the woman. She is going towards the future with all her strength and determination moving her clothes into a contemporary look with a traditional signature." Like previous collections of Amina Al Jassim, the designs add a sense of softness and femininity to the wearer.
