Max (Out on Thursday)

A film about man’s best friend, Max is a war dog who served in Afghanistan with his handler Kyle Wincott (Robbie Amell — The Flash, The Tomorrow People). After suffering major trauma whilst being posted, Max is sent back to the US where he is adopted by his handlers’ family. The only person he seems to be able to bond with is Kyle’s brother, Justin (newcomer Josh Wiggins). The film tells the story of corruption, arms dealing and blackmail, but can a dog and his new best friend save the day? You might need a few tissues for this one.

Pixies (Out on Thursday)

Get ready to disappear into a fantasy world and have a fairy good time in this fun-filled family animated movie. Making his voice acting debut, Sean Patrick O’Reilly plays Joe Beck, who was cursed by pixies after a bad deed. His life has been in ruins ever since — things never go right and he lost the love of his life. After finally finding the culprits who destroyed his life, Joe must find out about the mysterious little creatures and right his previous wrongs. The movie also features the voice talents of Bill Paxton (Big Love, Aliens, Apollo 13) and Christopher Plummer (UP, A Beautiful Mind).

Terminator Genisys (Out on the first day of Eid)

“I’ll be back!” was the famous line uttered by Arnold Schwarzenegger as the original Terminator, and he certainly is in the fifth movie in the franchise — several times in fact. Terminator Genisys time travels its way through various scenarios, with new baddies and a very significant link to James Cameron’s original Terminator film. The film stars Jason Clarke (The Great Gatsby, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as John Connor, who sends his father Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney — Jack Reacher, Divergent) to save his mother Sarah (Emilia Clarke — Game of Thrones). But on arriving in 1984, nothing is as it was and a new adventure and challenge to save the human race from Skynet ensues. Loads of special effects, time travelling, explosions and de-aging of Arnie make this a great time out at the movies.

Minions (Out on the first day of Eid)

Everyone’s favourite yellow, banana-loving characters finally get their own movie. We get to discover the origin of the Minions, then follow them doing what Minions do best — finding someone evil to work for. In this case it’s Scarlet Overkill, voiced by Sandra Bullock. Stuart, Kevin and Bob are recruited to steal Britain’s Crown Jewels, but of course nothing goes to plan. With an outstanding cast list of voices including Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Jennifer Saunders and Steve Carell, the film takes us on a comical journey with the ‘too cute to be evil’ characters. Plus, no doubt everyone will leave the cinema speaking Minion. “Bananaaaaaaaaaaa!”.
