Avengers: Age Of Ultron

If 2012 meant one thing and one thing only, it meant Avengers. And now, 2015 is all about the return. They’re all back: Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow and they all have to save the Earth once again.

Now, this one does have a lot to live up to. The first movie in the series went on to gross more than $1.5 billion (Dh5.5 billion) worldwide so those are some big shoes to fill. Can they do it? This time they’re trying to battle Ultron, voiced by James Spader, who wants to kill off the human race to save planet Earth.

All the big stars are back: Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner in what will probably be this weekend’s most watched movie in the UAE.

She’s Funny That Way

Has there been a better dog film since 2008’s Marley & Me? We don’t think there has. Well, now the two leads from that film are back. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston reunite in She’s Funny That Way. However, this rom-com isn’t about a dog, it’s about a very messy love triangle.

There are some big stars in this film about a Broadway director (Wilson), a playwright (Will Forte), a therapist (Jennifer Aniston), and a wannabe actress (Imogen Poots).

Lemon Tree Passage

The best/freakiest thing about a scary movie is when you find out it’s based on a true story. Cue Lemon Tree Passage. This is an actual road in New South Wales, Australia, with a big urban legend attached to it.

Rumour has it if you speed down Lemon Tree Passage Road you will experience a supernatural phenomenon. Transferring that theory into film is 30-year-old Aussie director David James Campbell. Expect screams, shouts, ghosts and a fair few car chases in this week’s horror film offering.

The latest offering from Dreamworks is actually really funny. Based on the novel The True Meaning of Smekday, this film is all about aliens taking over Earth, but it isn’t as bad as it sounds though, as the aliens are kind of cute. One in particular, called Oh (voiced by The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons), really doesn’t want to be like the other aliens and becomes friends with Tip (voiced by pop princess Rihanna) who happens to be one of the only humans who hasn’t been kidnapped.

It’s good to hear Rihanna as cute little Tip. Other big voices in this movie include Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez. There are some really cute moments which might even bring a tear to your eye if you’re a little on the sensitive side. Great going, Dreamworks.
