Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, issued a law amending some provision of Law No. 19 for 2016 on the regulation of taxi transport in the emirate.

As per the new amendments, the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars (TransAD will be replaced by the Integrated Transport Centre, which will be an affiliate of the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport.

The centre will enjoy an independent legal personality with the full legal capacity to act and perform its duties. It will be the competent authority responsible for engaging in public transport, parking management, traffic control centres, weigh stations and logistic facilities designated for the land transport of goods as per the approved transport plans.

Under the law, practicing any of the centre’s activities is banned without obtaining permission from the centre itself. The authorised party will have to act within the limits of the permission.
